Alison works in stoneware, making work mainly thrown on the potters’ wheel. She runs workshops and delivers experiences from the riverside setting of The Clay Yard at Steamer Quay.
Through her practice as a maker, teacher and artist she has developed an understanding of and respect for the materials and chemistry that make up her work.
Thrown on the potters’ wheel, Alison’s work is mostly made for the table and is decorated with a blend of fresh and natural tones on a light grey/buff clay. High-fired stoneware glazed with a butter-cream glaze and celadon green glaze bring overlapping hues of vibrant and interesting colours.
